Explorer Hybrid? On dash Fuel Pump ON/OFF switch. Can this do any damage?

FPD details

Impressive mileage gains. Would be interesting to see if that holds up averaged over more miles.

Could you describe your setup a little more? Specifically, what is running or getting fuel (of any kind), when your foot is off the gas pedal?
Do you have that propane tank gadget hooked up? What happens when your RPMs drop below ~500 RPM?

he's right, the ECU on the explorer shuts off alternating fuel injectors when coasting downhill to conserve fuel. any ecu would be faster at turning the fuel back on and it also has the added benefit of a fail-safe mode where it will turn the injectors back on in a situation where something else fails and the engine might stall. cool idea, but the savings from turning off the fuel pump would be minimal and could also be dangerous. if your vehicle stalls because you didn't turn the pump back on, you could lose control of your vehicle. just my opinion, tho.
