- 1972 Mustang Mach 1
For my first post beyond simple new member introduction, I figure I'll just dive right in.
I'm building up a 1972 Mustang Mach 1, in what many call the "pro-touring" style. I'm sure you all know that means I will seek to imbue this crusty relic with modern sports car performance character, by infusing it with modern sports car technology. I'm pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering (mechatronics emphasis), and it is my intent to use this car as the platform for my senior project (another can of worms which will be the subject of another story). In keeping with the thesis of a paper I wrote a couple of semesters ago, titled "Hotrodding is Recycling", I'm looking to use salvage components where practicable. In looking around for possible donors of IRS, I became attracted to the idea of using the 8.8" diff and IRS from a 2007-2010 Explorer/Sport Trac. Thought it might be wise to find a place like this one, to hear from brains that have stormed that brainstorm before me.
I don't want to box the conversation, so I'll leave my inquiry as vague as that for the moment, and just listen to whatever generous feedback you learned members might offer.
Thanks!
Tony
