It seems everything went to crap all at once on my wifes 2000 explorer. Its kind of a long story but is kind of interesting and is blowing my mind.
She drove it to work friday and it stranded her so I got off work early and it would turn over but wouldn't start. The first thing I listened for was the fuel pump and it was not priming or making any noise and there was no pressure in the fuel rail. I thought okay the fuel pump is toast. So I got under the truck and beat on the tank while she was turning it over and after a while it started but was missing terribly so I limped it home and pulled the code that it set on the way home. I cant remember the POxxx but it was the ignition coil and it was missing on cyl 1 and 6. It was late but I got the coil and installed it and it started and seemed to be normal, no missing and it ran smooth. I thought maybe the coil had something to do with the fuel pump not priming but I was wrong.
I got up this morning and was going to change the oil and went to start it and it would not start. It would just turn over. No pressure in the fuel rail and the fuel pump was not priming. I bought a fuel pump and put that in today(fun). It primed every time the key was turned. Sounded great. It would start but it took a couple turns for it to start. It wasn't consistant. Sometimes it would start right up sometimes it wouldn't. So I cracked the throttle and it would fire right up. So I cleaned the IAC valve(less than 2 years old) and it starts up great every time now. And to finish me off I noticed that the heater control valve was leaking that I replaced less than a year ago. It has been an interesting day.

What's that old saying; "When it rains, it pours."?

Good job in getting it all fixed.

You got that right. I just thought I would share. I just never have seen so many things go at one time. It has been a reliable truck for a long time so I cant complain. Maybe we can get a few more years out of it.
