whats up...I just bought a 96 Explorer..my problem is it doesn't have a CD player only a tape player also doesn't have CD changet controls...my question is..what are my options as far as installing a radio with a CD player...i didn't want to go the aftermarket route because I like the size and the plain look of the stock radio...what year Explorer will be a direct fit taking out the old radio and putting in the new one?..also are there any good aftermarket radios out there that are a direct fit of the stock size where those plasic dash mounts aren't needed....ok sorry for rambling but any help would be appreciated...thanks

Some people have done a little dremeling and have done double DIN installs.. which look pretty cool.

Other than that you have to find a head unit and cd changer from a 95-97 Explorer.

Are you saying that you want to stay with the factory equipment? Is your system set up for a regular radio or is it the type that is dual channeled? I guess what I am asking is, "can you change the stations from the back of the console area or from the steering wheel"?
