So.. there are probably a bunch of these around but I cant seem to find what Im looking for, so in advance Im sorry if this has been asked before. And thanks for looking and trying to help... So here we go.

Ok so a few months ago I bought a 1994 ford explorer off a a guy for 450 bucks. It runs great just needs a lot of work. The radio was out of it. It looked like it had the hook ups for it but one set of wires didn't look right. So I eBay a wire harness, get it in the mail and one set fits the other does not. This is a picture of the wire that doesn't look right. There is only 3 sets of wire, first one you see in my palm of my hand, 2nd one is at the finger tips of my hand (which i don't know if this has anything to do with the radio or not) and the 3rd one is for the antenna.
This is the harness I bought... http://www.ebay.com/itm/300893187089?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
So i guess my question is what is this thats in my hand? If its not apart of the radio what does it go to? If it does, do I need a different harness?

someone said it could be a 6 cd changer. could this be correct? I can't find it in this truck if it is it. if it did go to a 6 cd changer can I get a different wire harness for just a aftermarket radio to plug into?

I have the wire harness to the power of radio illumation dim and stuff, just what I'm missing is the ones that goes to the speakers...

There are 3 audio packages factory installed: base, premium, and audiophile. You have premium unless you have a built in subwoofer in back. In that case, you have audiophile.

The cable you are asking about goes to an external amp mounted over the right rear wheelwell, under the plastic.

Wrong harness. You need the harness for the radio with the factory amp, & you also need the factory amp bypass harness.
Order from crutchfield.com They have what you need & will give you detailed instructions.

that's exactly right. I found where the amp is, so I ordered it off ebay today just wait till it comes in.

I pretty much did the same thing, converted to a conservative kenwood system. It's an easy deal except reaching that that external amp. I still have cuts healing from that venture. But, hey, you could install the original head unit... if you have a good collection of cassette tapes. LOL. You're good to go, enjoy!

or will a 6x9 not fit? I'm. seeing 6x8..
