Explorer Sport console help. I just did a search and found some pictures of what I believe I am missing.

The 2003 Explorer Sport I just bought just has the lower console part in it. Can someone show me a picture or diagram of what is missing for the top part? What other models had a console like this one? Thanks. I just did a search regarding this and found some pics of the top of the "bag console" that I have. From what I can see, the cost of the top armrest is more expensive that a whole junkyard other explorer console. So I guess that will be the route I will go eventually.

As you already know, you're missing the arm rest and bag. The upper cup holder should have a piece that flips over to change the size/configuration of that cup holder. I'd give a better description or photo, but it's dark and I use that spot for misc junk. Good luck finding a bag! I might have one, but I'm not sure it's the correct one. I found a plastic container that fits the bag area reasonably well.

As I said, I'm not all that keen on searching for the replacement parts. Looking them up on ebay, they are pretty expensive. I can get a whole explorer console at my local pull and pick for $25 if I can find a decent tan one.

Yeah the bag console is pretty cool! But expensive to replace

The other style consoles are a dime a dozen finding one with a good arm rest can be tricky if you are handy they are not terrible to re cover

My '01 Sport Trac has the full console, and my '02 Sport Trac has the bag console, with a plastic container subbing for the bag. For storage, the full console is better. I've cut down a plastic cupholder/console from Walmart to fit in front of the bag console which gives me 2 adjustable cupholders and a little extra storage, so my cupholder situation is better in the '02.
I didn't like what my sweaty arm was likely to do to the cloth armrest in the '02, so I cut the sleeve off a fleece pullover and slid it over the armrest. Likewise, I didn't like my bare arm sticking to the vinyl armrest/lid of the full console in the '01, plus we all know what sweat does to the vinyl, so I cut a leg off some yoga pants, or something like them, and slid it over the lid. Function over appearance, but with gray interiors, they don't look that bad - definitely better than stained cloth and cracked vinyl.

I need to correct my previous post. The armrest for the bag console is vinyl, not cloth like I said above. I've had it covered so long I forgot which it is.
