Hello

I had a problem with my thermostat when I was going cross country and I went to a shop on the way to change it, after that I noticed that it leaks but not a lot, so after getting home, I purchased the top part and a new o-ring and changed them, the problem is that now it leaks so much that the car is not drivable any more. When I give the car some gas I can see the coolant being forced out, it kinda looks like the coolant is coming out of a compressed hose.

Do you have any ideas on what I have done wrong?

Thank You

Could it possibly be in upside down or just plain backwards? When I did my thermostar I almost put it in backwards lol.

I put the spring downwards, so I think that should be right, I read something about "12 o'clock position" Could that be related?

yea the little release hole which looks like a goldish colored button needs to be facing up in the 12 o clock position. If its not that could very well be your issue.

I hope thats the problem, I will work on it tomorrow again.

I had something like that happen but it turned out to be the housing that connects the water pump to the thermostat the thing was just pressed no wields so i had to scrap all the paint off and TIG it with silica bronze rod that fix it

its fixed now, I think when I put the housing back the first time it moved the o-ring but the second time I was much more careful, and there is no leaks now :)
