Is any one else having problems signing on to explorer4x4 the last couple of days?? Is it my web browser? It says explorer4x4 index and an error message

Im going to kill two birds with one stone.
I was wondering why people say KKM is good, it pulls air though the hood. When we drill the air box some say that it lowers power in hot weather. Wont KKM have the same problem???

I just ordered a KKM now Im not so sure i want it

I haven't had troubles getting into explorer4x4.com, but I wasn't able to get into the forum for two days!

i also had that problem

OK, first there were problems and I've heard from other people about it too.

It depends on what you're talking about. If it's a cone shaped, open filter then it should be better since it's completely unobstructed; pulls air directly from the outside (inside of the engine compartment in this case). With the factory air box your air access is restricted to that little hole at the end of the pipe that leads to the air box.

works,

The forums are on a seperate server than the main page, and there was a disk problem with the forums server.
It has been replaced.

Now for your second question.
The thing that you have to understand that in HOT WEATHER you will have degraded performance even with a stock setup. Wether you put holes in your air box or put a KKM, in hot weather you will get some degraded performance unless you shield the intake from as much heat as you can from the engine. Putting a heat shroud around the back of the KKM to prevent the hot air from the engine getting to the filter will help in this matter. What I mean by a heat shroud could be a plate that surrounds the back of the filter that acts as a barrier to keep the intake from sucking air from the area in back of the filter that is close to the engine. Get the picture?

alright thanks

now im not sure if a should of bought that kit

hey ray :) got any pictures of that setup or was it just a theory?

No I don't, but all you're really doing is putting a barrier between the engine and the filter. It's like making your air box bigger only you are using the hood as the top, the fender well as th side and making a wall on the other side, where the engine is.

Sorry, I thought I hit the quote button and I guess I hit the edit button instead.

I'm not the only one, even moderators make mistakes.
