Are you still under your factory warranty now? If not how about Ford? Heck, I bought my '98 5.0 Explorer from a Chrysler dealer and I have a Chrysler warranty on my Ford. $100.00 deductable for as much as I can pile on to the repair order and they have never turned down a claim. Not even a question. The good side to the warranty is that it paid itself back once when the front end was replaced. Ball Joints, Control Arms, etc. Now it just bought itself again when I had them change the oil pan gasket.

I have a $50 deductible on my ford ESP plan and my dealer never asked any questions. They just fixed the problem quickly and efficiently and called me when done. I have 60k miles and so far have probably saved about $1500 because I got the extended warranty plan.

I wish I took that option when it was offered to my by the dealer. It could've saved me a few hundreds. :( I learn my lesson and took 10 year warranty on the wife's truck. Of course no problem as of yet... I bet ya it'll stop dead on the 11th year. :D

I got mine through AAA auto club, it is good for 5 yrs up to 100,000. Everything except maintenance issues is covered.

For how much?

About $1500 as I can recall

in case others are looking...

i purchased a warranty from www.warrantydirect.com

i paid $1600 for a 5-year/100,000mi bumper-to-bumper with a $0 deductible. covers everything except regular maintenance. also comes with free 24-hour roadside assistance for the life of the warranty, and covers towing and a rental vehicle in the case of breakdown.

expensive, but worth the peace of mind i think.

WOW - I paid like $1155 for my extended warantee at the time of purchase of my used 2000 Ford Explorer with 26,000 miles. My warantee covers me for 4 years / 75k but so far I've had to pay 2 $100 deductables and fought tooth and nail with my dealership to get a transmission cooler fitting covered. Not to mention there is always something that is not covered in the repair (ie: "Emissions is never covered" is what my dealer said).

This warantee is thorugh Heritage and my dealer is Hempstead Ford (Long Island, NY). THEY BOTH SUCK!!!! I would never buy a car from them again and am disgusted with the service they provide. The only reason I bring my car there for service is because Heritage has this "engine for life" that will cover the engine as long as you get the oil changes done at Hempstead Ford. I've got to do some more research because if I could dump this one and get a better deal I'm all over it!
