do not go with a 3", stay no larger than the 2.5". And I would do a couple of things different if it were me. I would replace the cat with a hi-flo unit, and mandrel piping, also gone with a Hooker Aero Chamber muffler single in and 2.5" dual out to rolled SS 2.5" tips. Then you are sounding good. And if you have resonators, then throw them out. Weld everything, screw clamps.

keep the pipe at 2.5", replace the secondary cats with pipe (5.0 has 4 cats), and replace the resonator with pipe. Youll like it

Since you have the v8, go with tru duel flowmaster super 40's.... as you can see im a 4.0 SOHC wishing I had a V8
