- 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 H.O.
Hello,
I recently wired up a RAP module in my 1997 Mercury Mountaineer since it didn't have one, I am 100% sure that I wired it up properly, but for some reason, if you arm the alarm, pick the lock to unlock the door, and open the door, the alarm does not go off.
Also, if the doors are open, you can still arm the alarm. Isn't the horn supposed to beep twice or something to alert you of an ajar door? ( My old Silverado did this )
Is this normal? If not, any advice ( besides getting a better alarm, I want to use the RAP ).
PS: Explorers/Rangers are SUPER easy to break into, I've never picked a lock in my life, and I was in my Mountaineer in literally 3 seconds with nothing more than a flathead screw driver, and the space under the door handle latch.
