Hi Iblakely,
I just ran across your posting while searching for help with my alarm problem. If your problem hasn't been solved yet, I may have some info that could help. The same thing happened to me about a year ago, and found out that if the batteries in the remote entry faub go dead then the alarm goes 'off' (headlights flashing and horn honking). I replaced the batteries (about the size of a nickel in my faub) and that solved the problem.
Now, my alarm started going 'off' while I was driving, but not at the normal rate and interval. The lights are flashing and horn is honking at a rapid rate, while the engine is running or not. The only way I could stop it was to disconnect the vehicle battery. I checked my faub batteries again, and they're good. So, I have another problem. Any ideas?

My 93 Limited does the same as horizoncowboys new problem but, only when it has rained for awhile. After the truck dries off, the alarm problem ceases.

I believe i've found the source of my problem. I disconnected the horn long enough to locate a clicking noice in the rear of the truck. In the jack compartment I found a large box (with multitudiness connections) wrapped in plastic that was soaking wet inside and out. Dried it off with a towel and hair dryer and the alarm problem went away. Now I just have to determine where the water is coming in at. I'm thinking it is coming in through the wheel well, some how. Anyone know where I can get portable hair dryer until it quits raining?;) :D

Check the hood switch.. I had that happen in both of my X's Limited. First in my 93, my hood switch was bad.. so there was no parts for it so I left it disconnected, then it didnt solve the plm. then later it turned out to be alarm module shorten out by a quarter panel window leaking in. So it all fixed along with module replacement. It solved the problem. As for my 97.. it turns out to be a bad hood switch. Now ever since.. it has not bothered neighbors. Bad hood switch is common in those alarm system going off for no reason...Hope this helps
