I have a 93 Eddie bauer ed Explorer and the Factory CD player says BAD on the display, I used to just disconnect the battery but now that doesn't seem to work. Is there something wrong with a wire somewhere or is the deck just... BAD?

Maybe it thinks you did somthing wrong and it warning you! But a 93, it could just be bad.

I just find it hard to believe that it would tell you that it thinks it self is bad.

It might just be referring to the CD to. A lot of stereos do that. If i were you I'd just get a new head unit and ditch the factory garbage.

Try a brand new Cd in it with no scratches at all. If that still doesn't work, then it is worn out.

My 94 EB explorer has the same problem. The radio/cd player had the word 'BAD' on the display for a couple of weeks. The radio doesn't work either. What is really weird is for a short time the radio would work (without BAD) then I would change the station and either BAD would display or the radio would display nothing. Now it doesn't do anything.:(

alright i recently(today) got the same problem in my 97 EB. has anyone fixed this problem? i was thinking that maybe it was the lense. i want to take it to a stereo shop but im expecting a package and the package is more important than the cd changer problem.

this sucks, every car i get i have sh:t for luck with. i went through 2 Escorts, '94 and '95, and now this car is giving me problems. this is what i get for getting a car from my parents!!!

You have a Saleen Explorer from your parents and you are whining? Do you even realize what you have there? Have you ever wondered, since so many vehicles have went down in your hands, maybe it's not the vehicles? About a thousand of us would love to have that "Broken down old tub of Saleen bolts".

no its an EB... the saleen name got stuck to me. always loved saleens since i saw the S7. and if i did have a Saleen Explorer, it would remain stock forever

well i think i found out whats wrong...after spending a couple of minutes taking the changer out and a couple of hours taking the changer apart, ive concluded(not sure if its the same for everyones cd changer) that the motor that spins the cd didnt spin the cd, so the motor is either bad, or is not getting a signal to start turning. im just going to junk mine (because ive tested another cd changer from a factory ford vehicle and it didnt work either.)
