First off, I'd like to say how much I love the way ford wired their premium sound system. It keeps getting better. I just finished up installing my new HU. Unfortuneatly, I didn't take the discs out of my changer before hand, and since the factory stereo isn't installed, the changer won't spit them out. I've read that I can use a 12v power source on the right wire to power it on, and eject the discs. I've pulled the changer out of my x, but i've come to a problem- Which is the proper wire? Also, noticing that this is a clarion changer, is there anyway to get a complete wiring diagram for the plug? I don't really have any idea how changers talk to HUs, but I was thinking it might be possible for me to wire my own adaptor... the square clarion end to my round kenwood HU. Any thoughts?
Next, again thanks to the "premium" sound system, i've found that the line for my antenna is all the way back by the amps, instead of in the dash... where it would be ever-so-handy. Is there an easy fix for this? I had thought about cutting it off at the end, and running it back up to the front of the truck. However, my power antenna cable is already broken, and i havn't been able to find which wire is the antenna power on... The antenna is stuck up, but before I could hear the motor run when the power was turned on/off. Now, nothing. Would I be better off just to buy a new antenna? I dont want to spend a great deal of money, but i'd like something that is a little different... so far my truck looks identical to every other EB out there from the outside. ('cept the antenna is always up.) What are my options for antennas? I don't listen to the radio much, but it'd be nice to know that I had the option.
Thanks-
