I have been looking at the factory DVD systems and would like to go that route rather than an aftermarket. Please, that is just my own decision. I would like to know what it takes to get this unit in the vehicle. I obviously know that the unit itself is needed but past that what is needed? Mounting plates, wiring harnesses? How does it get power and from where and do you need a special version of a radio for this?

I also posted in your other thread. I'll try and be specific on DVD.

For OEM DVD it would be a lot of work, . . .unless you can find a junker and the wiring, as there is a radio harness running from the Radio all the way to the roof liner. i'm not sure if all radios would work, for sure one with AF on the end will but that has a sub too.

You will need a book or schematics, I’d send you some pics but you need a bunch,. . .i found a wiring book for only $5+4 for shipping on fleabay and it will have everything you need or try and find a cd of it. On a side note from what I found online for free is incomplete, best source is the book or pdf of it.

Do you have a sunroof? There is a special brace the has to be added, if not there are std mounting brackets. I have yet to take the DVD down so I’m not sure what up there? Maybe someone else does.

Then you can do what I’m doing for the sub woofer I’m adding. I bought a harness adapter - metra 71-5700 (double check). Next step is when you get the DVD player, you need to get that side of the harness too. Then bought some bulk wire (shielded) to connect the two ends. It might be easier to go with RCA jack soldered on the ends for the L/R +/-. Add Batt/Acc/Corp Bus A/Corp Bus B/ and a couple of others. Radio side plug is the 20pin one.

Oh yea, these DVD players are not the best in the world, mine flakes out every now and again, it plays but no picture. . .then it works again, sounds like a lose wire but I have yet to take it down and check.
