I was wondering if the factory head unit has a preamp output on it or not? I am planning on putting in 4 Pioneer TS-A1665 6.5" 3-way 180w Speakers in all the doors and i was wondering if you guys would advise just hooking up a amp(with speaker level inputs unless the factory head has preamp out) to the factory HU, or if i should get a new head unit first and later on get a amp, what i should do? is there really that big of a difference between the quality of sound that the premium factory head gives out and that of a new head unit?

There are no pre-amp RCAs on the stock HU. You can buy line level converters.

A new HU would be a great improvement of sound quality over stock.

I would save a little more and get a new aftermarket HU before getting started, but just replacing the speakers would help also.

Tell me more about these line level converters. Do they go on the lines to the speakers? Do they render a speaker line inoperable?

Thanks
