which one should i go with. i'm askin cuz i like the look of the factory unit in the dash, but will it do as good a job as say the sony xplod i have in my accord? if i get the factory i will hook it up to a 6disc changer. i have real good speakers, amps, subs. will there be a big difference between the factory and aftermarket?

go with the sony. it's is much better for adding on. and the sound quality is much better. it provides a stronger signal with less distortion (especially at higher volumes).

ok, i hear what your sayin. now, what can i do to fill the space left over by the factory HU, i hate that plate they put around it to fit, it looks so plain and empty. i like the full look of the xplorer HU's.

Why don't you get a 2-din aftermarket unit?

a few people made their own intall kit. i know darkfox made his out of black plexi. other people use MDF and sub box carpet. or you could just get a single din equalizer and install both in that space.

if you like the factory look, get a double din HU.

well the thing is i have a brand new sony xplod with a built in equalizer in my accord i was gonna switch over to my X. my dad wants to buy it from me b/c the pioneer in his car is messin up, so i could sell it to him. only like for a $100 bucks or so though b/c he's my dad, and i paid like $250 for it over the summer. i would get a double din, anybody have pix of their duoble din, and any suggestions on which brand? also will one fit right in the factory hole in my 96? cuz crutchfield lists the size sony i have as the size to put in the explorers?

Dead Link Removed Pioneer FH-P4400...it should be around $260 now

thats sweet. it would fit right in to my dash with no mods? and i guess you need a disc changer with it so do you think that it would hook up to my blaupunkt?

thats perfect, b/c i would love both a cd changer and cassette

it does require a little trimming. not much.

I have the FH-P404, the 4400's predecessor. It was installed in 99 I believe. There is a SLIGHT space between the unit and the dash, which was filled with a filler. It appears silver in the photo, but that's because the flash reflected. It matches the color of the black trim.

that looks real nice. do you have a changer hooked up to that or no?

Nah, no changer. Unfortunately I got the HU when it first came out and paid an arm and a leg. I never bothered getting it after, and being in college now (with the Expy at home), getting one looks even less likely. But, it does have changer controls.

i just saw that you live in plymouth,pa, i live in pittston.i go to PSU-WB. theres a couple guys i already saw on this board that are from pa and go to penn sate.
