Hey, Guys

Been awhile since I posted anything here! I've been having some serious problems with the "utility" part of my SUV since I added all the stereo gear, and I've decided to go back to a "mostly" stock system. I'm going to leave my Boston Acoustics in the doors, but go back to the factory head unit and changer. It's the "Mach" system, and from what I understand, there's a decent sized power amp in this system. There's also a seperate sub amp in the back powering the factory 8" sub. My question is...how much power is that thing? Does it have a x-over built in? I'm thinking of using it to power a higher quality 8" sub in place of the crappy ford one. Think it could work?

Thanks,
ExplorerAudio

If I remember correctly, the sub amp is rated at 190 watts. I'm 99% sure about that. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

It's rated at 15wattsx4 RMS for the speakers and 85watts for the sub. Yes, there is a crossover in the amp that filters lower frequencies.

I know some people have sucessfully changed the factory sub with an aftermarket one. Try doing a search on "factory sub". I was thinking about changing the woofer in my Ex (6.5 inch) but just recently, I found a great deal on the amplified MTX thunderform. so I'm saving up for it now :D
