hay guys.

Well i finaly got a avic-z1 installed in the 04 replacing the 6disc changer. he wired it to the factory system using the correct harness.

anyways, now i would like to put my subs/amp in place of the stock ones that are in the truck.

My question is, can i use the wires that run to the sub/amp in the rear panel? if so - how do i remove that panel? or do i need to take out the whole quarter panel?

if not, how do you guys recommend i run the wiring for this setup?

You need to remove the entire panel to get at the amp and wiring to remove them. Remove the panel by finding all the trim screws holding it in and removing them.

You can use the factory wiring for lower power amps, say an 80-100W amp or so to the sub. Anything larger like a 200W amp, you better use 4-8 gauge power/ground wire and you might want to run new speaker wire, too. You can usually just get an all-in-one amp wiring kit that has power, ground, speaker, remote, audio, etc. wires and cables.

Once you get the panel off, and pull the trim to expose all the wiring, you can just run the new stuff right alongside the factory wires, just keeping the factory stuff in there in case you ever sell the truck and replace the original system.
