I've had my Explorer Sport for 2 years and put lots of miles on it, and it was running great. I noticed it idling roughly and guessed it needed a tune-up, then checked further and noticed that both banks were running lean and there were head gasket leaks on both sides. I got the car worked on right away by a professional mechanic, who did a complete gasket rebuild on the top half and had the heads ported.
Now the car is leaking gas and oil, the steering is starting to get squirrelly, and the back axle squeaks when i hit bumps (probably unrelated, but still worrisome).
The mechanic believes one or both of the gaskets may have been pinched or blown (already!!??), and wants me to bring it back. All work is under warranty.
My mom had a ford taurus that exploded (literally) before it reached 100K miles, and i'm well above that. I take good care of my car, and want it to last a long time, but i can't afford to replace everything that breaks, especially if it all breaks at once!
Any advice?
