Hey guys I think my fan belt is getting loose as it squeels when idling, can anyone help explain how to tighten it or replace the belt.
'97 sohc.
Many thanks in advance.

You can't adjust anything, the belt is self tensioning. It's pretty easy to replace. Take a 3/8" ratchet and slip it in the hole on the tensioner. (There is a square hole for it). Turn the tensioner to remove the tension on the belt, and slip it off the pully. Then just take it off, get your new belt, get it routed on all the pullys correctly and then use the ratchet again to move the tensioner and slip the belt on the tensioner pully. Done.

There is a sticker under the hood of your X that will show you the correct belt routing.

While the belt if off, check your idler pullys. If they don't spin smoothly, or make noises of any kind, replace them.

Thats great, thanks for the help and i'll check the other parts also while i'm doing it.
