2000 Explorer Eddie Bauer
I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer Explorer; today, the interior fan came on high, and I cannot change it - the wheel on the AC does not work, and the buttons on the steering wheel do nothing.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
DB

probably the fan module. it's located in the 5:00 position to the fan motor (under the hood). new ones can be expensive. i'd get a couple from the bone yard.

Thanks.
Bummer. I am not a good mechanic, and planning to head out on a road trip in this car.

Check your blower motor resistor. It may have failed (shorted). See here.

i'm assuming the OP's Eddie Bauer has the EATC hvac controls and not the manual controls, that would have/use a blower resistor. however, the EATC blower fan module is located in the same place as the manual control's blower motor resistor. changing the module is quite easy once you get other stuff out of the way (an electrical plug and a couple of screws/nuts). someone posted a how-to video earlier this month. also, check this post "Automatic climate control issues" posted on 7/13/2013.

Replacing that module will fix the problem.

I'm going to revive this thread because I keep having this problem.

I've replaced the blower motor controller 4 times now. I'll get one that lasts 6 months, or one that lasts 3 days. They are lifetime warrantied, but I'm beginning to suspect that there may be something more at fault here.

Ideas?

Are they OE (Motorcraft) or Dorman?
Also, a failed motor (shorted collector) can burn out the controller.
