So far I am pleased with my now 2 year old 14k Explorer but there are a few small but annoying things going on.
The few issues like windshield noise I see there is a fix for but I stumped the dealer with a serpentine belt that slips when it is damp out & especially when I hit a puddle. All they could tell me is that it didn't do it for them & told me to "bring it back when its raining".
Second is when I shut the car off I hear a light whining of a pulley as it spins down. Cooling fan? They could not hear it so the mechanics hearing must be more shot than mine.

Something I noticed after the last update to sync is that the recycle air button for the climate control randomly turns itself off & usually only when passing by a dead skunk, sewer treatment plant or dusty dirt road. Is there any reason why this would not stay on? Could it be a glitch in the last update?

Last & this just started is the exhaust has gotten louder from the engine bay when I take off. This has actually made the car sound better but just concerned that something is about to let go under there. I am due next month for my oil change & inspection so I will point these issues out again to the dealer. Has anyone out there had any of these problems?

Today its raining & the slipping belt is even worst that last time. I hear it screech & lose engine power during slippage. dealer refuses to replace the belt until they actually experience the problem. I work for a living like most do & cannot drop everything to go to the dealer hoping its still doing it by the time I get there. Another funky minor thing is since the latest update the ambient lighting reverts back to factory default randomly. Think it happened twice in the last 3 months. Not a big deal but when you shell out that kind of money for something you want it working 100%

When your climate control system is in Auto it will automatically adjust outside or recirculated air.

From the manual:
H. AUTO: Touch to engage automatic operation, then set the
temperature using the temperature control. The system automatically
controls:
• Fan speed
• Airflow distribution
• A/C on or off
• Outside or recirculated air.

And that's a bad thing? ;)

Is the car running MFT 3.5.1 or 3.6.2 ?

He's saying that when you would prefer not to smell outside air, like passing by
a skunked area, Recirc Air should have stayed on from the last time he set it.
But its back to External Air and the car sucks in the stinky air.

On mine consistently you manually set Recirc Air, it will revert back to External air the next time the car is started.

(I dont use Auto, I dont like its setpoints, the AC operates way too frequently when not needed.)

For this ALONE buttons back on the dash would be HUGE.

Oldtimers comprehension issue. :D
I have mine on AUTO full time and I won't have to worry about the A/C coming on anytime soon. ;) Maybe in 6 months.

Yeah, I would not look for hard buttons to make a comeback anytime soon. Every manufacturer seems to be moving to a touch screen for better or worse.

Yeah already tried that in manual mode & still dose the same thing

Ford has said they will return to some knobs -this is their 1st new model(?) with a layout using touch and a "return to knobs" combo.
Knobs are likely to happen on the Ex due to so many MFT issues.

If you have an all touch MFT, the hardware touch controls for the car are on the Sony Premium audio unit, not necessarily MFT but using MFT programming and setpoints.

I would bet soon - 2015/2016, it will happen on other Fords, and I would say people will want support for swapping out their all touch MFT / Sony Premium Audio control center to the knob/MFT.

GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. (AP) -- After a bumpy start to its reinvention as a luxury brand, Lincoln hopes to smooth things out with a graceful new SUV.

The Lincoln MKC, being introduced Wednesday in New York, is the second of four new vehicles Ford Motor Co. is counting on to revive its luxury brand. It goes on sale in the U.S. next summer for a starting price of $33,995, making it the least expensive vehicle in Lincoln's lineup.

The MKC looks similar to the concept version that debuted at the Detroit auto show last January. It's low and wide, with a sloping roof, optional panoramic sunroof and a prominent winged grille. The tailgate cuts into the sides of the vehicle, instead of the rear, allowing a long, unbroken band of taillights. A sharp crease undulates along the sides, giving the vehicle a constant sense of movement.

"I'm optimistic about it. They did everything they needed to do," said Dave Sullivan, an analyst with the consulting firm AutoPacific. Lincoln showed the MKC to media and analysts last week at the suburban Detroit estate of Henry Ford's son, Edsel, who ran the Lincoln brand in the 1920s and 1930s.

The MKC's arrival closes out an up-and-down year for Lincoln, which was America's top-selling luxury brand two decades ago but lost ground after Ford stopped investing in it. In 2010, Ford began working on a plan to remake the brand.

Lincoln kicked off its comeback last February with a 90-second Super Bowl ad introducing the redesigned and updated MKZ sedan, but because of some quality issues, the MKZ wasn't in showrooms until several months later. Then, the brand was surprised by the high demand for hybrids, so it had to retool its production plans and cut back on hybrid advertising over the summer as supplies ran low.

"It's been a huge learning year," said Matt VanDyke, Lincoln's global marketing director.

Lincoln's U.S. sales were down 3 percent through October, and vehicle research site Edmunds.com said the brand is still getting far less consideration from buyers than German luxury brands like Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

But Lincoln executives point to some successes. It has seen record MKZ sales for six of the last seven months, and Lincoln brand sales were up 38 percent in October after it launched ads comparing the MKZ to the Lexus ES.

Ford has learned some lessons from the MKZ. The MKC has more knobs on the dashboard, for example, after customers complained about the MKZ's glitch-prone touch pads for climate and volume controls. And while the MKC shares the skeleton of the cheaper Ford Escape, the design — and most of the parts — are completely different. Past Lincolns have been criticized for looking too much like their Ford cousins.

The MKC will be built at a factory in Louisville, Ky., the same plant that now is working three shifts to meet demand for the Escape.

Max Wolff, Lincoln's chief designer, said the company went to great lengths to give the MKC a hand-crafted look that's different from the Escape. The tailgate, for example, is specially hydroformed by a supplier in Canada because Ford's stamping plants can't make such a complicated design.

The base MKC shares a 2.0-liter, 240 horsepower EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with the MKZ. Also available is a new, 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder with an estimated 275 horsepower. Unlike the MKZ, there's no hybrid version.

The MKC is arriving at the right time. U.S. sales of small luxury SUVs like the MKC are up 25 percent so far this year, making them the fastest growing segment in the luxury market. Sales of the smallest luxury SUVs have more than tripled since 2009 as Baby Boomers downsize from bigger SUVs and younger buyers enter the SUV market.

Another minor idem is the ambient lighting keeps switching back to default settings. Only happened 2 times in the last 3 months but its annoying when you shell out so much money for something you kinda want it working 100%

Ah forgot to add millage in my PM to you. I am a little over 14k

I have a 2013, had it for about 9 months and 15,000 miles but I've noticed the same squeal with my belt when it gets wet out...doesn't happen all the time like yours though. The one thing that really bothers me is the loud rattle from the dash when it's cold out and I have the heat on. Only lasts about 10 seconds at a time but it's very annoying when it happens.

Have you told your dealer about the rattle, alexk? I can notify your regional customer service manager as well; just send me a PM with your info and I'll get this moved up the line. In your message, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, mileage, VIN, and preferred servicing dealer.

No worries crystal, I work at a dealer just haven't had time to walk over to the service dept and give them my keys, plus I have a list of a few other things that they need to look at for me.

Sounds like you'll be in good hands, alexk! Let us know how the appointment goes.
