i just bought an Audiobahn 1206Q subwoofer. it's a step up from the 1205Q. it handles 1100 watts rms. once i heard it, i was so amazed that i just had to get it.

it took me a long time to finally decide on what sub i was putting in my new system.

Dead Link Removed

i'm going to make a 2.5 cuft ported enclosure rear facing with clear plexi on top.

That is bad ass I love the design. What do you have powering that? What is the price on that?

I see them on e-bay for 150 thats a great price on that sub.

im going to power it with an Audiobahn 2150HCQ.

:D Nice. I also love that this board's designated audio god is using the same brand that I will be using! LOL

i also noticed they improved the aw series a little. my XMAX on the aw1200eu was 21 and with the Q its 24. i think thats right. but its still a LOT more than my friends pioneers which only have 7.

well the eu series was just a continuation of the 2000 model year but they were sold in europe. the X series is the actual 2001 series. the 2000 series was plagued with problems. they had quite a few bad batches of subwoofers. that's why there were so many left over. thye were all covered by warranty, and the 2001 (X series) was a huge improvent. and there were no problems with them. the new Q series is based off the X series, with a few upgrades. these are their most impressive subwoofers so far.

their amps are amazing too. i still have an old A275HC from 2000 that performs like it was brand new.

any reason why you went with audiobahn? i was considering getting a pair of jl audio 12w6's (around 500watts rms i think), but they're about $200 each, enclosure for $150, rockford fosgate amps are expensive, etc. i'm pretty new to the whole car audio thing, all i have so far is a kenwood kdc-mp8017 mp3/cd headunit (which i LOVE). here's what i had planned for the rest of my system:

kenwood kfc-p503 5-1/4" components in front
kenwood kfc-6909 6x9" 4-way speakers in rear
rockford fosgate punch 150S speaker amp
q-logic dual 12" subwoofer bandpass enclosure
two jl audio 12w6 subwoofers
rockford fosgate punch 700x subwoofer amp

should run about $1500 by the time i'm done with it. i'll start out getting just the speakers and their amp then later put the subs in when i get some more money. :)

What are the rest of your plans for your system leenjen? Or is it a big secret and when you finish you will tell us all and we will all be amazed.

yeah. i've been doing car audio installs for almost 7 years now. there are many great subwoofers out there, but i was most impressed with Audiobahn. i've never heard any other subwoofer hit so hard and still have great sound quality. CA&E did a test of the top four subwoofers last year and the Audiobahn 1205X reached the highest SPL and was the only subwoofer to get a perfect score for Clarity at high volume. when i had a single 12"Audiobahn subwoofer in my explorer a year ago, i would get compliments all the time on my system. and nobody could believe it was only ONE subwoofer.
in a 2.85 cuft ported enclosure with 1008 watts rms, it hit harder than my four 15" Orion XTR's.

anyway. the JL 12W6 is a really good sub too. but the hype factor is a reason why so many people buy it. it is a great SQ sub, but i'm kinda dissapointed by it's SPL performance. i actually like the JL 12W3 better. the 12W7 is just way too overpriced. in a year, it'll cost a lot less.

Nothing too amazing. i just want it to sound great.
i have Audiobahn 5.25" midbass in the Kickpanels. i took out the ashtray and mounted two Audiobahn tweeters. i'm still looking for door speakers, amps (for door speakers and midbass), and a great headunit. the headunit is going to be the biggest and hardest decision i have to make.

any suggestions?
the criteria are:
5 volt or better preamp outputs (front, rear, and sub)
detachable face (some eclipse and others dont have this)
frequency responce lower than 20Hz
high S/N ratio
must look better then the ugly Nakamichi headunits

other plans include a line driver, bass driver, and 24 volt (30 surge) 3 farad capacitor.

You must have some monry to burn!:D

i wish. but with a wife and two kids, the money doesnt go as far as it used to. especially since one daughter is 13 months old and the other is 2 months old.

Yeah I have a six-year old I know what you mean, the playstation 2 games are whats killing me.I work tons of overtime to feed my stereo habit.

How are you gonna wire it? 1 Ohm? Looks good, Im thinking of selling my subs and amp and reclaiming some cargo space. Let me know how this sounds. When will you be done with the install?

yes, i'm going to wire it @ 1 ohm mono.
i can already tell you that it sounds amazing. hits incredibly hard and the sound quality is great even when it's cranked. i dont know how long it'll be til i'm finished with the entire install. like i said, i have to decide on a few more things. it's great having only one 12" subwoofer that outperforms most other systems with 2 or more subs.

isn't that a 2001 sony ES model? unfortunately Sony discontinued the ES line of headunits:mad:
that really sucks because they are some of the best headunits around. they actually have all the features i'm looking for.
