Finally doing the liftgate swap! Need some help on a few things

I just read through your thread, exactly what I was looking for.

Tomorrow Im supposed to be going out to a junk yard that says they have a rear black hatch for a 99. I just hope its the right one, and in good shape...the guy wont let customers into the yard so I cant see it before he pulls it, which I think is stupid of him. If its not right Im walking out.

Anyways thanks for the thread and info, I just hope I have better luck then you do!

Honestly man, I would tell him im not buying it until im allowed to look at it and inspect it, I mean he could literally come out there with one scratched to hell, rusted, AND WATCH OUT FOR THE ****TY HANDLES! I cant count how many my junkyard had of them, with the infamous broken rear hatch handle (Where when you pull the handle, it wont unlatch)

Plus the bottom of alot of them tend to be really rusted, specially the "XLS" models that had the gray trim along the bottom of the gate.

(This is all from my observations of the few JY's ive been to, so I could be wrong)

I gave up looking, but I think im gonna look around some more lol

Well my luck wasnt much better.

The one yard that said they had one when I got there ended up only having off colors and they straight up told me they werent in very good shape.

Another yard I called said they had one, I went down, sat in the nasty waiting room for about 45 minutes before someone even talked to me and I ended up walking out once they told me they only had a red one and they could paint it for some ridiculous price.

Yea, same here basically, my yard has probably 15+ 99' hatches, few are in bad shape, but none are black!
