Okay, so first- I LOVE the roar of LTBs at all four corners!!

However, I have a couple questions about minor issues I'd like to resolve. I'd search but it's almost impossible on my phone and home Internet is down until Saturday. Here's what I have:

1.) Shimmy in steering wheel at seemingly any speed (except when stopped) :D

2.) Fuel gauge does not work at all- stays on empty

3.) Temp stays around the 'A' in NORMAL. That's higher than my 3.0 Ranger ever got- is that normal for a 4.0? It seems stable there so at least it's not climbing...

4.) The rear window wiper doesn't work. Is there a quick fix or test procedure?

Thanks for all the help I've received so far from you guys! I'm stoked about taking it on its maiden voyage this Sunday.

Well the shimmy has most likely to do with the tires. If you hear the vibration of the tires, your steering components feel it, so you will feel it in the steering wheel. On a stock tire I'd suggest checking your allignment and tire ballance, but with 34inch off-road tires I'd say thats causing your shimmy.

As for your temp, bigger engines run warmer is the only thing I can think of here. If it isn't jumping above normal and it's holding solid, I'd say its just something to get used to. Rear windshield wiper, I don't know. I've seen many of these siezed due to a burnt out motor or rarely being used.

That's kinda what I'm thinking for the shimmy. I should get a quad-steering stabilizer set-up. That would be baller. (Please don't take that seriously.)

the shimmy is most likely the LTBs, as soon as you have a couple thousand miles on them, rebalance them, that will help a little.

Mine are unbalanced but the actually ride pretty good once they warm up, even at 70MPH. The flat spots are brutal when they're cold though!

How about a steering stabilizer, most lifted explorers run them. Alienment and tire ballence will help. Explorer gages are not the most accurate. Mr Gasket makes a radiator cap with a thermometer if you need additional security.
Replace the rear wiper motor (less than $100). My gas gage has not worked for years, I just go off mileage.
