Hey man I love my explorer but have also had some problems and can see why you are upset. I am keeping mine because I believe it is just like any other brand, they all have certain problems. Explorers just happen to have rear end and wheel bearing issues. I do think I would have had less problems from an import suv(4runner, pathfinder, pilot)I also would have paid way more for the same year, same mileage, and same setup. You get what you pay for and I paid for a really nice 2003 Explorer V8 AWD AMERICAN MADE. I sometimes get frustrated but keep reminding myself that I only owe $6000 on it and will pay it off in about 2 years. If I would have bought an import I would probably owe about $10,000. I also own a 1994 Toyota Corolla station wagon and it runs great and will more than likely still be running when I junk the explorer but I still like my explorer more.

If you managed to spend $1,000 on the transmission one month after buying it, you bought it used. Not the Ex's fault that you know zero about inspecting cars. The Explorer isn't lame, your eyes are. You probably picked it because it had ventshades on it.

Reduce the price so nothing else would break? More like "I had to reduce the price because I couldn't negotiate like a man when I bought my Explorer, and got taken for a ride and owe more than I can afford and was trying to sell it for more than it should have been."

I'm glad you bought a Honda. I'm sure you'll look great scrunched behind the wheel of your little chick car.

You'll soon join a boyracer forum, spend money on crap that will make your little car as fast as a '93 Escort GT, and convince yourself that 16 second quarter mile runs are fast, and get thuggish to compensate.

Yeah, that's about right... Looks just like you will in under 3 months.

Joe, you're not far from the truth re: ricer mentality. We have plenty of those here in Calgary (where the original poster is from now). I am so tired of the fart can exhausts, obnoxious HID colours, R Type stickers and oversized spoilers. This is one of those "what was I thinking?" automotive trends fo sho.

Be sure to grab yourself one of those Autozone special $20 exhausts when your out picking up some sweet tribal graphics. They sound real nice!

hopefully no trucks will hit you. . . .ricer and 40,000lbs of tracter/trailer combo, i wonder who will win?

LOL!!! hahahahahha you guys are really funny!! the purpose of my civic is going to the office and back..... no mods at all.... and yes i got my truck inspected when i bought it, nothing was detected at that time..now is the civic a small car?? yes! affordable? yes!! cheap on gas?? yes!! Am i worried cuz is gonna break?? NO!! and for the rest?? that's why i also have a Nissan Armada....very ricer....compared to a lame exploiter....

187K miles running great and only needing routine maintenance = WIN.

HAHA! "You got your car inspected." Still were not man enough to do it yourself. That statement right there proves you know as much about vehicles as how to make a good thread! Congratulations on showing your ass and the econo ****box. LMAO

Well Im sorry it didnt work out. Mine has a whole host of problems and you know what Im looking to replace it with? Another Explorer/Mountaineer. I guess they cant be that lame can they?

sorry you felt that way about your exploder.

But to come on here and say they are lame is childish. and people posting you are a ricer too. but i wont get into that.

I have had problems with my vehicle. i get out there and fix it. you went the lease route so you dont have to worry about repairs. Nothing wrong with that.

Come 6-10inchs of snow, you will think different about your civic. What if your civic turns out to be a lemon? What happens with your civic has a few issues? Better join www.hondatech.com :)

that would be funny if you one day got stuck in the snow and had a explorer pull you out. karma works in funny ways.

good luck non the less.

I'm sure your Civic will break, because you inspected it. LOL!

"According to Consumer Reports, [1], the Armada and QX56 have been very unreliable primarily due to problems with the brakes. But as of the 2008 model year, many of these problems have been reportedly solved, and the Consumer Reports 2008 reliability survey reflects this, with the Armada, QX56, and the related Titan all improving to average."

Wow- nice choice. And welcome to mediocrity. Trash a great vehicle to buy something "Average" huh? You sure do have an eye for quality. Ha ha!

On my 2nd X, first one had 320K, this one has 170k, contour had 275k, lincoln 220k, all routine fixes, Blue oval FTW!

Should have bought a Fusion!! JD Power rates them higher for predicted reliability. Talking my in-laws into one now after they crashed their low mileage '06 Accord (which had not been exactly trouble free).

You are 100% correct, most foreign cars are way more reliable, than american cars. That's been proven. But however foreign cars are not built as durable which equates lessened safety unlike like american cars. His new civic is better than his explorer because, he only uses it to commute. So why have a gas guzzling SUV than a high mileage car. The "stupid" people here calling him a ricer, and bashing him. Are probably angry because he made a good desicon and wish they could too. So how can this man be a ricer for just buying a Honda, and not even mentioning his plans for it?

Enjoy the new car, though you will miss the explorer over time, it is so nice to sit up high and look over cars.

Take Care Man, I wish I could go back and choose a different viechle, my 05 has given me lots of problems too. Man I would die for the new f-150. lol

I'm on my 4th lame Exploder, er Exploiter (what is an Exploiter anyhow?). My truck drives me bonkers at times, but I'd still get another. My mom has an old Civic and it's been pretty reliable but she's always moaning how expensive it is to get fixed, how pricey parts are etc.

This guy's a troll. Ashamed to see he's from my hometown. :thumbdwn: (At least I can actually spell "Alberta").

I think you guys are taking this a little too serious. So what if the guy did not like his Explorer. I think what sets us apart from other enthusiasts is that Explorers are far from perfect yet we are still loyal to them. Some people don't have the time, energy, or money to deal with Explorers. Lets be honest for a minute. Any American made vehicle is not as reliable as honda, toyota, or nissan. Thats a fact and thats the reason the GM, Ford, and Chrysler (mainly GM and Chrysler) are in the financial shape they are in. They made inferior products for years and it is now catching up to them. Maybe we will see them start to care about the consumer now that they feel they need us again. Anyway as I said I love my Explorer and will probably buy another but I don't care what someone else thinks about his because everyones situation is different and maybe they are better off with a more reliable vehicle like a honda.

I could care less if he bought a Yugo. Yelling out "Ford Explorers are lame" not once but twice on the largest Explorer community anywhere is akin to walking into a crowded Mosque and yelling "Islam is lame".

Not cool. While we're not all happy all the time with our rides, a little respect goes a long way. The guy's a troll and the site won't miss him. 23 posts in 2+ years. He came in here just to get a reaction. Mission accomplished.
