First day questions

So I just brought home the explorer and I am seriously impressed with how clean and how well this thing drives for a 9 year old vehicle with 124K on it. Feels like its two years old. Anyway, I know how to engage the 4WD by putting it in 4HI but I assume its a shift on the fly system correct? Of course at low speends (10-20 mph) if it is. My other question is, there is no back to 2WD button, so I could only get the 4HI light to go out by pushing 4Auto. Is that how you do it. I know you get out of 4Low by putting it Nuetral but what about getting out of 4Hi?

You are correct. You have Auto 4x4. To get it out of 4x4 mode press the auto button. It's all explained in the owner's manual. If you don't have an owner's manual, Dead Link Removed.

Thank you big Rondo. So basically the truck is always in auto 4X4.

Yes. It is always in auto 4x4. The only way to put it in 2WD is to do The Brown Wire MOD.
