So I just recently got my first 1997 Ford Explorer! This is my first truck. Have always wanted an SUV or truck. Got it from a wife's family member who is moving to Alaska. It has 169k miles on it, great tires, all maintenance has been spot on by previous owner, Eddie Bauer edition with the 5.0L V8. It's a big change from my Scion xA.
For the bad it is throwing the P0171 & P0174 codes but starts right up and no idle issues but the gas mileage is horrid, the Lamp Out Module is bad. Those are easy but tedious fixes.
She didn't want cash and didn't want to take the car with her. She told me if I donate $600 to a local veterans non profit then it's mine. So for a $600 car to get through North Idaho winters I call it a win. The body is in great shape no rust anywhere not even a scratch and the interior is immaculate. I am new to doing my own work and find it incredibly fun, like a real puzzle.
