First Gen Engine Question

As I was looking through ebay today, I noticed a 91 sport. The pic of the engine is confusing me. It doesnt appear to be a normal 4.0, but the auction said it is a 4.0. The intake is in a different spot, and the upper intake manifold looks much different with the throttle body off to the side. The whole thing just looks weird. Here's a picture of it:

Thats a '90's Thunderbird engine compartment. Like Alec said its a 3.8L V6, not a 4.0L.
