Hey everyone! I just found this site a couple of days ago, it's fantastic!

Last weekend I bought my first Explorer, a '92 XLT 4x4. It's my first foray into the world of SUV's, and it's the first 4x4 I've ever owned. Pretty sad for someone who's 41, eh? :p Sure is fun to drive in the snow, though.
So far it's been a great little truck, although today I'm having starting issues. I put a post in the "911" section for help.
As for mods...so far it's pretty stock. I bought it to use mostly as a daily driver, although I have a feeling I'll be getting it dirty pretty soon. :D I doubt that much will be changed on it, although I do plan to upgarde the sound system this summer. Gotta have my cruisin' tunes!
Here's a couple of bad pics...

Anyway, great forum, and I'm sure I'll be posting lots and asking a ton of questions.

Looks like its in real good shape. Welcome to the site!!

Hello Calgary. SE, here. See ya on Deerfoot or something. Welcome!

Thanks Redrig! It really is in decent condition for it's age. It has rust in the corners of the wheelwells from a set of running boards that used to be on it. Otherwise the body is perfect. I plan to fix the rust this sprng.
The interior is nice too. It has 222,000 kms on it but you'd never know it by appearance. :)

Celly...I'm also in the SE. Yes, you'll probably see me around on occasion. My plate is pretty easy to spot.

They don't even give you two personalised licence plates either? I know with normal plates in Alberta, you only have one nowadays, but even personalised?

Hehehe! Yeah, they do give us 2 personalized plates, we just don't have to run them on the front. I originally ordered the plates for my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton hotrod (you can see it on my website), but I sold it just over a year ago. Since the plates are very expensive, I figured I may as well put them to use on something else. :D

Sam...your '01 looks great!

DirtyDog...thanks! These trucks seem quite popluar in Alberta, I see them everywhere! Hard to find a decent used one to buy, though. :p

I suppose if you lose the one you have on, you also have a spare that way LOL :D

My Grandma has lived in Calgary for 30+ years, so she is lucky, she has the double regular plates on her Explorer ;) She got them before the government went cheap and only started issuing one.

Ya I know what you mean. It took me 6 months to find a Limited that had low KM's and in good shape. But it was worth the wait. I'm at school in Medicine Hat right now and they are everywhere here too!! What mod's do you plan on doin?

Crankcase...I have the spare plate hanging on my home office wall. I'd put it on the front of the X, but they get so beat-up sitting out front like that.

DirtyDog...right now my only plans are to fix the rust in the corners of the wheelwells, then do some upgrades to the soundsystem. It came with an aftermarket Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette/6-disc CD changer, but stock speakers. I want to change over to a newer HU, an MP3-capable disc changer, an amp or two, and better speakers. My older brother in Winnipeg has been doing professional stereo installs for 30 years so I'll be able to get some smokin' deals on equipment as well as some good tips on what to do.
However...I still have to get it running again. I'm still fighting with my electrical/starting issue. :fire:
