I am a retired mechanic with 40 years on the job and finally want to take it easy and have some fun so I bought a older glass boat (22ft) with a 302 and tandem trailer and re-worked it.Then all I had to do was find something to pull it with that had some weight to it so I could stop with it as well as go!
I had a 99 Explorer Limited that I had purchased from a customer and it was just sitting around growing cob-webs,so I pulled it in my shop and checked it over.Everything was in good shape (even the body/interior) except for the trans. The previous owner had a trans leak and never fixed it ,so she fried the trans including the pump.In fact it had so much metal shavings it looked liked the floor of a machine shop! Anyway my Buddy had a AODE out of 2WD. I always wanted to try converting 4WD to 2WD so in she went and
with only a few mods it was easy. I used the wiring harness for the valvebody from the 4WD,a six cyl starter and a drive shaft from a older pick-up that I shortend for the occasion. So I now have a vehicle to pull my boat and more! This is one of the most comfortable driving vehicles I have had,the body is clean even the lights on the running boards work and for 170,000 miles thats pretty good!
