Ok I want to put a compoent set in my front doors, I want to use the ADS 346is, 6.5" set, mounting depth is 2 7/16" I will mount these on an adapter plate. Will this work, and will they fit depthwise? Also do yall know where I can purchase an adapter plate? Thanks

yes that will work. it's pretty easy to make a mounting plate out of mdf. 6.5" might be a tight squeeze, but they will fit. a few people on this siteh have 6.5s in the front doors. and yes, the mounting depth is fine.

Before you buy a plate to make them fit, try to make them yourself. Thats what I did and they turned out good. Just make sure that if you mount the crossover in the door, leave enough wire so when you put the windows down it doesn't tear all the wires out of the crossover. (I found that out the hard way)

Welcome to the site, Litup!

I've found that it's often easier to make adapter plates out of sheet aluminum. They usually hold up better, and don't get water logged if you get water in your doors (happens more often than you think). They don't have to be perfect, just get some sheet aluminum and drill or punch the necessary holes for screws, or use self-tapping screws. Get a decent set of metal snips, straight ones, to cut the speaker holes.

Good luck!

thanks guys,

i think ill build an adapter myself, how thick of mdf should i use? and i should be able fit my tweeter on the plate as well, correct?
