Flamethrower Exhaust

My neighbor has a 32 or 33 ford hotrod that shoots flames up to 12 feet. This was built as a show car so it is only really driven to and from car shows, only form late spring to early fall. The only time he uses it is at night at a show or cruisin nights, but he makes sure there are no people, other vehicles, etc. around. It is really cool loking, but it is very dangerous. He actually disconnects the igniter in the tailpipes whenever he drive to and from a show, just to make sure it does not ignite and shoot flames at anything or set the car on fire while driving down the road.

you don't have to do any of that ****, there is a kit out there for like 150 bucks. All it does is stop the motor from burning the fuel so the fuel is sent down the exhuast and is burnt coming out the muffler.

as stated previously, that will not work because the cat will not allow it....

i don't think the cat could stop that much fuel!! Guess all of us on here saying we've seen it are just lying to you... thats right its all in your imagination the magical cat can stop all.

Q: Will the "Got Flames?" kit work on E.F.I. (electronic fuel injection) cars, trucks, or motorcycles ?
A: Yes and no. It will work on almost any E.F.I. car, truck, or motorcycle without a catalytic converter provided it does not have 4 or 6 cylinder engine ( motorcycles are exempt from this, but still can't have a catalytic converter). Cars or trucks with E.F.I. need to have an 8 cylinder engine or bigger to shoot flames.
Q: Will this kit shoot 30 foot flames like I see on the internet and at car shows?
A: This kit is the major foundation for shooting flames from 1 foot to 30 feet.

that site is insane jeff!

Don't you hate tailgaters :D It'll make em go  and they'll slow down a bit

A word of advice should you decide to carry out your plans.
Be prepared to change your oil on a near weakly basis. The unburned fuel will wash down the cylinders and contaminate the oil in no time. Not to mention even ‘small’ backfires will frag your mufflers (maybe even catalytic).
I have an old school flamethrower set-up on my ’56 and while it is fun to play with (3 Stromberg 97’s supply more than enough raw fuel) now and again, repetitive use requires too much maintenance and has the potential for an un-happy ending.
On carb’d applications it is quite simple. You are simply creating a secondary ignition system (coil and plug for each pipe), wired to a switch that kills the primary coil (and energizes the secondary units) sending the unburned fuel mixture to the exhaust system where it is ignited by the secondary ignition system. There are kits available with fancy relays designed specifically for the task, but if you simply tap into the primary coil leads from the dizzy and use them to fire the secondary coils you can avoid purchasing these overpriced kits.
Junkyard coils- $10 each, bungs to weld into exhaust pipes- $.74 each, used plugs – free, used sparkplug wires – free, a few feet of scap wiring and an old switch- free. Scaring the crap out of ricers- Priceless.

Not as much as when you have airbags and can drag frame... For some reason when people see sparks from under a vehicle they back off REALLY quick.. Guess it doesn't halp that the fenderwells ride on the tires when me ranger is fully layed out.. So they get a mixture of smoke from the tires and sparks from under the frame..
