Does anybody know where the flasher is on a 2001 Explorer Sport? My manual wasn't any help.
I recently installed clear corners with LEDs and my blinkers are going way too fast. So I need to replace the flasher with one that is variable load, but I am having trouble finding where it goes.

Any help is appreciated.

Are all bulbs flashing? This is a symptom of a bulb out.

I know this is caused by the LEDs. I read about it on other posts.

flasher should be in the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. its round in shape

I couldn't find any fuse box under the dash. Are you sure that's the location on a 2001 Sport ?

I looked in my Haynes Manuel (1991 thru 2001 models) On 1995 and later models the flasher relay is located under the instrument panel to the right of the steering column. Hope that helps!

I hate to sound stupid, but what do I need to remove to get at it?

I'd like someone to absolutly confirm this ( I have a 93 and it's different) but on the 2001 you'd need to remove the instrument pannel.

I don't know exactly where it is but you MIGHT be able to get to it by removing the lower insturment panel (a few screws). If not then I would think that you will have to remove the whole instrument panel.

Thanks. I'll take a look at it when I get home.

hit the submit button too quick.
I wish I could give you more help but since i'm unfamilar with the 01' I don't want to lead you in a direction that's alot harder than some other easy way. Hope that it helps though

hey man if i remember correctly , the fuse panel was on the drivers side, when you open the door, look at the left side of the dash, like where the door and dash meet up. I could be wrong, but I think thats where it was. Almost positive in fact.

You are correct in that the fuse panel is inside the driver's door. However, I do not think the flasher was in there.

ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION!!!!

your flasher is located under the steeering wheel comlumn, you wil have to unscrew the cover ubder the steering whell and then there will be another cover which is a sheet of metal, when you take those off turn on your hazards and you will hear the click noise and it is color yellow!

Thanks PhaseOne21! I'll try to get to that this weekend.

The most common location for flashers is on Bourbon St. in New Orleans.

If I were 15, I'd probably find that funny.
