Flashing o/d light

My 2002 Ranger has had an occasional flashing o/d light.
When this happens I pull over to the side of the road, shut it down and restart. The light returns to normal for several weeks after this has been done.

I have read where this could be a speed sensor that needs cleaned and remounted.

Where is the speed sensor on a 2002?
What does it look like?

Welcome to this forum! The flashing overdrive light is like a check engine light for a transmission. You have to get the codes read to determine what is causing the problem before you start to replace parts.
