Flashing O/D Off Light

I have a '99 Explorer with 122,000 miles and automatic transmission. I have a recurring flashing O/D Off light. The transmission is actually out of overdrive when this happens. I can pull over and shut down the car, then restart it and the light goes out as normal and the transmission works normally. This will happen at random intervals. I assume it is one of the servos inside the trans. I have serviced the transmission fluid and filter 3 times since new and have recently replaced the O/D switch on the gear shift lever. Is this a common problem with this transmission. Thanks for any info.

Well... your Explorer year came with three different type of transmissions.
Flashing OD light usually signals a problem inside transmission - a code reader can provide more information.

I had the transmission rebuilt. There were a lot of things causing it. Runs great now.
