Well it all started Chrismas eve. I got in the X to drive to a friends house. I noticed I had no power steering. Then I noticed the battery idiot light was on. The volt gauge was at 10 or so. So naturaly i figured the belt was broken. I went under the hood and the belt was messed up but still in one piece. After driving my girlfriends civic around for a while I found a new belt on X mas eve at about 8:30 pm. (lucky huh).
Anywho I then started to wonder what happened to cause my old belt to get mangled. It after all was not that old. Well upon inspection My water pump pulley had more play than a weeble wobble. Today I got a new water pump and put it in. It isnt that tough but is a little tricky and you need a wacky ford only tool to remove the fan clutch. After all was said and done the new water pump cured the problem. I hope that those of you that have the fluctuating temp have an easier resolution than me.

That's what solved my problem--new water pump.
