Whenever I have gotten the oil changed I have the tech check the trans/diff/tf case fluids. The last time I got my oil changed the tech let me inspect the trans fluid. He said it was clean and I agreed. After I left I realized he showed me amber colored fluid...it is supposed to be red. (needless to say I won't be returning to that establishment). So today I bought Mobil1 synth. ATF and Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer for my manual 5-speed. I knew it was gonna be a simple job so I just crawl under with a crecent wrench and a drain pan. Well....I was expecting it to drain like engine oil. Apearantly there is a great deal of pressure inside the manual trans. I should have cracked the fill plug first. I was DRENCHED in nasty, black, smelly trans fluid, along with the left underside of the X. Several rags, a box of cat litter, and a shower later, It REALLY drives smooth and shifts nice!

Hey - atleast you did it yourself. Makes you feel good
