Fog horn sound

Ok I found many posts about this in a search, but no one ever said if they got the problem fixed properly. I have that embarrasing fog horn sound when I leave my explorer idle on hot days.

Many posts said it was the IAC, but the sound seems to be coming from the Mass Air flow sensor area.

It seems to have started after I put in a Fram air hog filter. When it does this if i squeeze the rubber airduct that leads from the filter to the throttle body it changes the sound.

My 97 ranger had the IAC noise, but this noise is much louder and deeper than that one ever was.

The sound from the IAC will resonate throughout the throttlebody/intake making it sound like it is coming from the MAF or airbox.

Most likely it is the IAC. May need to be cleaned or even replaced.
One quick way to find out is to pop off the small black cap on the IAC, all that is, is a small air filter, if that is clogged, it will produce the sound your hearing.

I have heard brand new IAC's do this from sitting on a shelf and collecting dust and also by making my new one do the same thing by taking off the "cap" and putting my finger over the hole ( was for demonstration purposes for a friend with a ford, he didn't believe me when I told him it could sound like a dying goose! )
