Hello, just picked up a 1999 Ford Explorer Limited edition and am having some issues with the foglights. At first when I turned the bright lights off, the foglights would come back on like they are supposed to, but they would flash one or two times. Tonight my foglights were working fine until I turned the vehicle off. Started it back up about a half hour later, and the foglights won't come back. The little green light on the foglight switch does not come on either when the button is pushed in. Anyone know what this problem may be? Thank you in Advance.

Scott

Mybe the relay or fuse for them went bad. If one or the other went bad, then that would cause the fogs not to light.

Where can I find the realy for them?

Possibly the switch itself?

You will find the relay box under the air air intake tube on passenger side.

Also, check the light housings for moisture. That may be the reason, the bulbs shorted out and blew the fuses. If there's any water sloshing around in there, the problem will recur.

Never really messed around with relays before, is there a way to tell if they are bad? or just replace it?

Ok, well it started to warm up a little today, (20 degrees) so I got to mess around with the relays a bit. I pulled them both out and one had corrosion on 3 of the prongs, so I cleaned it off, and stuck em back in and good as new, I now have fog lights again. Thanks guys

Quick question: what is the difference in operation between the fog lamps relay and the fog lamps isolation relay? Last night my passenger side headlight went out and the fogs didn't work either (including the green light on the fog button). Today I put it a new headlight bulb and new fuse, but still no lights... TIA

Flight 951, Do a search for Lamp Out Modual. If you have a message center in the console it may be your problem.

Ok thanks.

Bill, thanks again for the heads up. I just installed a new LOM and that fixed the problem.
