Fog lights

The fog lights on my EX have never worked since I bought it. Its a 2000 Eddie B with the 5.0 AWD. The light on the button doesnt even turn on when pushed. I checked the fog lamps and they are intact and dont look fried. I also checked the fuses and everything is ok. Im stumped.

Check the relays?

the relays would be my guess, even with the wires detached the button's indicator light would still activate unless the relay was missing or bad

But isn't the relay for the fog lights share it with the head lights?

one of them yes, the switch actuates another relay though

The headlights need to be on in order for the fog lights to come on, (although on some trucks like my 99 XLT I can turn on the fog lights with just the parking lights on).

Maybe the last person that yanked off the trim panel that the switch is in forgot to hook the wires back up to the fog light switch.

I never thought about that could possibly one reason. And is it difficult to remove the panel?

Just two screws underneath radio.

I actually just had this problem, the light wouldnt come on on the switch or anything, it ended up the actual inside of the fog lights were corroded and nothing was making contact where it was suppose to.

My fog lights were shot when I bought my ex.I priced replacements from ford and fainted at the price they wanted.I bought a universal driving light kit at Wally world for 20 bucks instead.I had to fab up some homemade brackets out of some scrap aluminum to mount them.The only drawback I could find is that the lights are not 100% waterproof.I took a black antifreeze jug and cut it in half to make a homemade water/snow shield.I poked holes in the plastic jug in a few places and tie strapped it around the lights to make a shield.The lights are 55w and are wicked bright.Saved over a hundred bucks and I think the aftermarket ones are brighter than stock.Oh,and the look like stock when you look at the front of the truck.
