Hey guys I know this might be a bit much to ask for since I can't seem to find anything online or on the forum. But does anyone make a fog light that will plug into the factory harness and mount in the factory location for a 96 explorer?

I was hoping to get a nice bright led fog light (keeping it street legal) to put in my factory bumper since both my lights are shot and be able to use my stock switch and not hack up wiring. Also looking for some to mount in my brush guard but that's a different story obviously.

The housings that I linked are OEM style replacements. They bolt right in. The LED bulbs in that other link come in both standard(150 lumen) output and a 420 lumen output. That second one is almost 3x the light output of stock. That should light the way quite nicely. Now that I've seen those I'm considering them for my truck.

Also, the 420 lumen version is priced comparably to Sylvania Ultra bulbs. I run those and the life span of the ultras leaves a little to be desired. My fogs are on all the time(with both low/high beams) and parking lights so I have been looking for a longer life bulb and I think these may be the answer.

I'm wondering from a legal standpoint and to avoid blinding other drivers, do you think the brighter bulbs would be an ok choice?

Well, all things being as they should I don't see a problem. By that I mean that the fog lights "should" be aligned to illuminate the road below the headlights. If that's the case then there shouldn't be any issues. But I do see your point. Things are not always as they should be. I was stopped by the police once because he said my fogs were too bright. They were stock bulbs and housings. It turned out that my bumper was tweaked ever so slightly up, which angled the fogs up and made them appear brighter. I'm very conscious about that now. Anytime that I go wheeling I'm always sure to check that now. So that was basically a long winded way of saying "good catch". I should preface my recommendation with a caution to be sure the fog lights are aligned properly before upping the light output. :D

Good call, now I have an excuse as to why my lights are too bright. Sorry slammed into a small bolder on my way to work yesterday and tweaked my bumper.

I agree with this. That's why all my vehicles stay legal. Well as legal as possible.

How did you do this?

It's actually pretty easy. Search "fog light mod". You just remove a relay in the relay box under the air cleaner and install a jumper. Then your fog lights are on all the time.
