Hello,

This is my first post. My question is I have a 1996 eddie bauer explorer, which I love. I replaced my fog light bulbs the other day an noticed that when I checked out the beem the light on the drivers side was not as bright as the other one. I am getting a reading of 12v out of the right light and only 4v out of the other. Does anybody know want I should do to correct this problem?
Thanks
Ray

I don't know if this is true or not, but I once heard that the light beams on the left side of cars are supposed to be dimmer than the right side. It's to prevent you from blinding drivers coming at you or something like that.

Again, I don't know if it's true, it's just something I've heard

It sounds like you have a bad ground. I'd use your voltmeter to measure from the hot contact in the light to a good chassis ground and then compare that reading with the light ground. If the readings are different, your ground is bad. If there the same, start looking at you hot wire. It might have a corroded connection somewhere.

Ummmmm, No. Not true. All the running lights in the vehicle are 12VDC lamps (at least in most of today's vehicles. There are a few other systems out there, but they are rare. Some older vehicles ran 6VDC systems and others ran 24VDC systems) and are the same side to side.

Alright, I got the point guys :p

Thanks to all,

I think it might be a bad ground. I replaced the bulbs and still have the same problem, the drivers side is way to dimm for fog lights.
