I was gonna get the rear dif oil changed tonight at the lube place and the kid tells me that they neede the special additive from ford to add to new lubricant.....

What is this stuff and is Ford the ONLY supplier?

Thanx....

RD:bounce:

heres your answer

the stuff he is talkin about is called friction modifier..its purpose is that when added to rear gear oil it helps or causes the clutches in the trac lock to engage and hold..you can pick it up at any ford dealership like around 5 bucks..or in a auto parts store like checker ect in the section where the gear oil is Hope That Clears it Up 4 Ya Zach:confused:

Thanx guys..

I'm gonna check @ Auto Zone cause the Ford dealership is closed when I cruise back from work.......

"Friction Modifier"......

I think you can only get it at a Ford dealer. Its the nastiest smelling stuff you'll ever mess with. Some people that use synthetic gear oil do not add the friction modifier because some of the synthetics have their own additive.
