I decided to change out the Fuel Pressure Regulator at the same time I do the O2 sensors (This Saturday). I called Ford dealer, $138. I called Advance Auto, $73. I thought the FPR was MUCH less than that, @$30. Since FPRs seem to be a n item many of us are having to replace, how much did any of you pay?

I have an AutoZone,NAPA,Pep Boys, and Advance all within about 6 miles of each other. I will call all of them in the am.
I would rather not internet-order if I could.

mine was $80

73 sounds about right, I got my oem replacement from Torrie at FPN(see the banner ad on this site) for 80 or so last year.

- just did a quick check of internet- carparts is out of business (JC whitney now,) and on wrenchhead (NAPA online)they are $100-120 for my 91. FWIW

Pix

Ok, I guess I'm an idiot......

Anyone got a pix of this FPR and/or a description/location? How hard is it to change out and how can I tell if it's bad? I get crappy mileage (15 hwy) and heard this might be the cause?

Thanks.

If you just have bad gas mileage, it could be a number of things... of course, our trucks are notorious for guzzling gas. A good way to tell if you have a bad FRP is by the smell and look of exhaust emissions. Possible signs are black smoke exiting the rear or the super easy to spot "rotten egg" smell. Hope this helps - also if you change your FRP don't be surprised that the truck will suddenly seem refreshen - like it has a few more hp... that effect wears off in a couple days.
