How strong is the stock 8.8? Does any one know if there is up gradeable stuff for this axle? I'm just wondering!

According to the 6/01 issue of 4-Wheel & Off-road, the 8.8 axle from the Explorer is rated to withstand an average maximum of 6,122 lb-ft of torque. That puts it ahead of the 5,982 for the Dana 44, 4,161 for the Dana 35 and 3,728 for the 8.25 Mopar. I would say it is pretty stout.

So is this true? Warn makes a full floater kit for the 8.8.

They did, not sure if they still do or not. This will make you have a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern also.

Warn has discontinued their full floater kit for the 8.8", effective last years SEMA show as I recall.
