I gotta tell you. I sent an email to Ford via their website and asked about the 4.0 SOHC timing chains. I told them I had it done once already but that the fix didn't last. I wanted to know if I could get a no charge replacement. Judging by my dealer's attitude after the first fix I they didn't think I needed one.
Last night I got a call from Ford. I went over the history with the rep. after which he enthusiastically told me that all work was still covered! We went on to have a long chat about my and Ford's experiences. I'm not always a fan of Ford service but I must say this was world class responsiveness.
He told me that the chains and associated parts are replaced at no charge for vehicles less than 7 years old or up to 100k miles (Mine is 6 years old with 97.5k). Also that Ford authorizes a rental for up to 2 days unless there was incidental damage caused by the chains in which case the rental time is increased. He even volunteered to forward my paperwork to the Ford dealer of my choice.
I'm impressed.
