Ford Explorer dome light issue.

I have a Ford Explorer and when you open the drivers door the dome light does not come on. if you open any other door the lights come on. I have checked all of the fuses and i have used silicone on the door switch. This doesn't help.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 2002-2005 section. Use WD-40 or electrical contact cleaner on the latch.

Does the radio turn off when you open the door? Does the Door ajar light on the dash come on when you open the door?

I had a similar issue with my 02 xlt. The dome lights would stay on until the battery saver feature turned them off, the driver side puddle light didn't work, the keypad on the door would set off the alarm when I pressed it, the door ajar light would flash and beep at highway speeds, etc.

A lot of issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the door. I found a broken wire and repaired it and all is back to normal!

Could also be related to the door ajar switch.
