2000 doesnt have a alumnium hood well not sport at least.

Do we know which plant(s) had this problem? Knock on wood, my paint has been good--though I don't believe there are any aluminum parts on the Trac.

The dealer that I bought my Ex from just took a look at it and took pictures etc. He's going to get back to me next week with an estimate and "what Ford can do for me..." I'll post here when I find out

Sorry, have not heard from the dealership yet...I will contact them tonight.

Yep, my hood's peeling

Aloha, my hood's peeling, just like the article says - started back in 2004. First I noticed a little bubbling (like rust underneath). Now I got two peeling circles about as big as my palm. I read some isolated articles off the web that the Wedgewood Blue paint jobs are particularly vulnerable. Guess what paint job I have!

Paint on my roof is also starting to crack (but not peel). Roof made of aluminum-? Looks like a single piece all the way down the sides of the Explorer. One more thing about Ford paint: being a blue color, a lot of scratches and nicks stand out. The paint/clearcoat seems pretty weak or thin in resisting damage.

Is there a link where we can view the Ford internal memo?//

I just spoke to the dealership here in town where I purchased the vehicle (back in 01). The Shop Manager stated that he was waiting for his Zone Rep to return his phone call. We had a snow problem here last week so she was unable to come to the dealership last week. The shop did a full estimate prepared by the Body Shop Manager (I have not seen the estimate...but I was present when he made the diagnosis).

I would presume I will hear from him within a week or so.

My 2004 has a paint problem. The inside rim of the rear door (drivers side) is completely bubbled with rust around 60% of the perimeter. I contacted Ford and they say this is not covered under any warranty. It's obviously a painting defect. None of the other doors show this condition.

I bought the car new and have kept it spotless. I wipe the insides of the doors everytime I wash the car. It makes me sick. I love the Explorer, transmission problems and all. But this paint thing really lets me down.
